Goan French Beans Recipe – French Beans Foogath

recipeIngredient (used american measuring cup, 1 cup = 250 ml)
  • 250 gms French Beans ( cut head and tail and slit into diamod shape)
  • 1 green chili chopped finely
  • 1 oion chopped into julienne Or finely
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 t/s asofoetida (hing)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • few chopped coriander leaves
  • 3 tbsp fresh grated coconut
How to make the recipe?
  1. Wash the french beans thoroughly under tap water. Chop the head and tail now slit them into a slant which will give a diamond shape.
  2. Chop the rest of french beans in the same shape.
  3. Take a pan Or vessel add coconut oil. Once oil is hot add green chilies and chopped onion. Saute for a minute. Also add asofoetida (hing).
  4. Now add sugar.
  5. Put chopped french beans and coriander leaves. Mix all nicely.
  6. Cover with a lid add some water over the lid. Place heat on low mode. Cook for another 6 to 8 mins. Keep stirring in between.
  7. Now add grated coconut and salt to it. Stir nicely. Cover with lid having some water over it. Cook for another 2 to 3 mins.
  8. Switch off the gas and keep the vegetable covered. Serve hot with roti Or rice.
Notes
Ensure the heat is on low mode while making this recipe.

Please don't add water to the vegetable while cooking as the french bean cook with its own moisture.
