Badam Suji Halwa is nothing but Semolina Almond Pudding! Suji Halwa is also called as sheera, rava halwa and so on. Also Almonds are called as badam in India. Badam Suji Halwa is such a popular dessert that it is made across all households in India. Wonder what took me so long to post this recipe? I love Badam Suji Halwa made by my mom ;)…. However I miss that now as I had to make them myself. I remembered how mom makes and I tried copying her. My hubby and my friends loved Badam Suji Halwa I made. I honestly felt mums tasted much better.
Hmmmm I was never so fond of Badam Suji Halwa as I am post marriage. I made it again today along with some boiled sweet potatoes. As I was getting really bored to cook anything else. Also not to forget I have made Almond Kulfi which I would be posting soon.
Recently I also made Almond Milk which tasted quite good. I can go on as I love desserts. Coming back to Badam Suji Halwa. Now Suji Halwa is made in many different ways. Some add saffron, nuts Or some make plain suji halwa.
I made suji halwa with almonds and almond powder hence Badam Suji Halwa! Also added dash of milk powder and freshly grounded cardamom powder with some ghee. The pictures aren’t that great but the taste is amazing and yummy. I am still learning food photography hence some pics shot well some not (:
Let’s make Suji Ka Halwa Recipe stepwise:
- Roast slightly semolina on a pan for 2 to 3 mins on low flame. Keep this aside. Take another pan add ghee and place it on low flame.
2. Add crushed almonds and saute.
3. Add milk and allow to boil.
4. After 5 to 6 mins put cardamom powder. Add sugar also add more if more sweeter required.
5. Add chopped banana slices and salt.
6. Now add the roasted semolina and keep stirring continuously. Else it might stick to the bottom. Once the semolina absorbs milk and start getting thicker. You will see the texture changing. The pudding should be uniform and smooth. Switch off the gas.
