Chocolate Prunes Ice cream

Prunes are great for health for. This is the first time I have tried prunes ice cream. I really loved the flavor of prunes+chocolate=Chocolate prunes ice cream :)…healthy, not so fat and delicious ice cream. Chocolate Prunes Ice cream is loved by my family even my pet loves it. Beat this summer with this unique Chocolate Prunes Ice cream. I am sure you will love them!

Prunes are great for health. It helps in lowering blood pressure, constipation. So do include Prunes in your daily diet for great health. Prunes have become my favorite for their unique taste and flavor to food.

Chocolate Prunes Ice cream

Coming back to Chocolate Prunes Ice cream. It is egg less also no ice cream maker and all. I have made in my own way as my heart expressed to cook. This Chocolate Prunes Ice cream is easy to make and tastes great. I have used pitted Californian prunes for the ice cream. Also I have used yogurt so that the ice cream is light and not fatty.

I am falling short of words today don’t know why? So I am gonna move directly towards our Chocolate Prunes Ice cream Recipe!

Chocolate Prunes Ice cream

Total Time: 20 mins to prepare+ 4 to 5 hours in the freezer for firming

Serves: 8 to 10 people unless all are ice cream lovers

Ingredients:

  • 8 to 9 Pitted prunes
  • 1/2 cup Black Grapes Juice
  • 6 tbsp Milk
  • 3 Marsh Mallows
  • Sugar as required Or Sweetened Milk as required
  • 3 tbsp Corn Flour
  • 2 tbsp Custard Powder
  • 3 tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 200 gms Yogurt
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Essence
  • 10 to 12 Raisins
  • 1/2 cup Dry fruits

Method:

Take a small pan add black grapes juice to it. Keep it covered on low flame for about 4 to 5 mins. Once the prunes are soft and tender. Grind them into a processor. Don’t remove the prunes puree let it rest in the processor container only.

Now take another vessel add milk. Keep the gas flame on low mode. Add marsh mallows sugar or sweetened milk which ever you are using. Keep stirring the mixture.

In a cup combine corn flour, cocoa powder and custard powder. Add little boiling milk to it. Now with a spoon mix all of them well. Pour this mixture into the milk-marsh mallows mixture and keep stirring.

After 2 mins switch off the gas. Again keep mixing with the spoon or spatula. Pour this mixture into the prunes puree. Also add yogurt to it. You can add dry fruits this point if you wish to. Add Raisins. Finally add vanilla extract or essence. Blend this mixture into a processor until uniformly smooth.

Pour the ice cream batter into the desired mold. Now freeze them for about 4 to 5 hours or until firm.

Serve chilled with shavings of chocolate or some shredded coconut.

You could also top this ice cream with few choco chips and almonds.

Also can pour some butterscotch sauce and rose petals.

Tip:

  1. You could make just Prunes Ice cream if you don’t like chocolate flavor. Just discard Cocoa Powder.
  2. Marsh mallows helps in binding and to set the ice cream. If you don’t have marsh mallows it is alright. You can skip it.
