Arbi called as Colocasia in English is very popular across all over regions. In India various types ove arbi recipes are made. Today I am gonna share with you today Dahi Wali Arbi. Dahi is nothing but Yogurt. This Dahi Wali Arbi is specially made in summers and is great for health. My mouth is yet watering with this awesome, delicious and healthy recipe. Dahi Wali Arbi

Colocasia looks quite similar to a potato. Also has great amount of starch and carbohydrates. This dish is quite simple to make even bachelors can make them:)

Dahi Wali Arbi

Generally in South India Arbi is eaten a lot. People make arbi dry, arbi vegetable, arbi fry, arbi curry etc. Also in northern region of India Arbi is eaten a lot. So arbi is quite a popular vegetable in India.

Let me share this tasty recipe with all of you.

Total Time: 25 mins

Serves: 6 to 7 People

Ingredients:

  • 250 gms arbi
  • 1 tbsp cumin seed
  • 2 red kashmiri chilies
  • 1 tbsp turmeric (haldi)
  • 1.5 tbsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp coriander seed powder
  • 2 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp fennel seed powder ( saunf powder)
  • 250 gms yogurt
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 onion chopped (1/2 onion for paste rest for tadka)
  • 1 tbsp fenugreek seeds (methi)
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • salt as per taste

For paste:

  • 1 inch ginger chopped
  • 6 to 7 garlic cloves
  • 3 green chilies
  • 1/2 onion chopped

Method:

Firstly peel off the skin of arbi and boil them until tender. Once boiled chop them into rectangular or round shape. Keep them aside.

Combine garlic, ginger, green chilies and 1/2 onion. Grind into processor until green smooth paste is formed.

Mix yogurt with 2 cups water. Keep this aside.

Take a big wok or vessel add oil. Once oil is hot saute cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds along with red chilies. Saute for a minute on low heat mode.

Add 1/2 chopped onion and saute until nice golden brown.

Now add green paste and saute for a minute.

Add turmeric, red chili powder, coriander seed powder, garam masala and fennel seed powder.

Keep stirring for 2 mins. Add little water.

Now add boiled chopped arbi along with yogurt-water. Stir all and add salt.

Cover with a lid for 5 mins and let it cook. Once the curry starts bubbling check seasoning and switch off the gas.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.

Serve with roti Or steamed rice.

Tip:

  1. If arbi is not available you could use potatoes.
  2. You can add more chili powder if more spice required.
  3. Also add water as consistency required.

    The recipe seems interesting. Will definitely give it a try..but i doubt it cn be eaten during navratras coz it has onion garlic and a few othr ingridients which are strict No No during fasts

      Anaisha 🙂 you could skip the garlic and the other ingredients like onion , methi dana, spices etc while fasting.

    Are you sure that the dry powder for arbi recipe are Tbs and not Tsp?

      yes Bashir I have used tbs you could use tsp if you wish as spices can be altered as per your taste and preference 🙂
