Deep Fried Ravioli, Eggless Ravioli Deep Fried | Eggless Ravioli Recipe

June 22, 2019 by maria 16 Comments

Deep Fried Ravioli with step by step instructions. Ravioli tastes delicious even if its an eggless version.Deep Fried Ravioli is an Italian dish modified as per Indian Taste. These are crispy, crunchy from outside and stuffed with cottage cheese filling. Tastes yum 🙂 easy to make them home. My hubby drooled over these and finished them all. Ravioli are a traditional type of Italian pasta. They are stuffed with filling mainly of cheese. Also the dough is made with flour and eggs.

However I haven’t used eggs for my ravioli dough and it came out well. In fact I am happy I will soon come up with homemade Lasagna soon. Ravioli is quite similar to samosas in India. Even is samosas we fill potatoes, peas and spices in the pocket and deep fry them. Also Gujiya is similar to Ravioli where sweet stuff like dry fruits and evaporated milk is served. For more information on Ravioli click here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ravioli.

Deep Fried Ravioli

The best part is no pasta maker Or any other complications required to make this ravioli. Guess this will make your life much easier to make ravioli at home. In fact I have seen a lot of cookery shows and did a lot of research over the net. Finally I decided to go my own way as usual.

I wanna explore more food from different regions across globe. The thirst for food and recipes is increasing day by day. There is not a single day when same food is cooked at my house. I am liking that fact. Anyways I will go an on so here is the recipe 🙂

Deep Fried Ravioli

Let’s make deep fried ravioli recipe stepwise:

1. Combine sifted wheat flour, refined flour and salt on a flat surface. Ensure the surface is dry and dusted with flour so as to knead the dough.

2. Add warm water. Now mix with your fingers it will appear like crumbs.

3. Start kneading the dough. Knead for 7 to 8 mins using all your stamina. Knead from backwards to center for 5 mins. Now add clarified butter Or oil and knead until smooth and soft dough.Allow the dough to rest for 10 mins and keep it covered.

4. While the dough is resting let’s make our Ravioli filling. Wash spinach leaves and chop finely.  Mix chopped spinach leaves and cottage cheese. Then combine rest of the ingredients for filling into a mixing bowl. Use your finger Or spoon to evenly blend the mixture into one.

5. Now make small balls form the dough for about 1.5 inch.

7. Brush water on the corner of the square. Place the filling on one side of the square leaving some space at the edges. Check the pic you will get an idea how to do it.

8. Now fold one side of the square towards other forming a rectangle shape. Seal the edges with your thumbs else the filling will fall out while frying. Take a fork and give an impression towards the sides of ravioli.

9. Now cut the rectangles in the center.

10. Alternatively you could also give a round shape by taking help of cookie cutter.

11. Place the filling in the center. Brush the edges with water. Wrap from once side to other side. Seal the edges with your thumbs. So now you have both square and round shape raviolis.

12. Take a frying wok Or kadai. Place on high fire until oil is hot. Once oil is hot reduce the flame. Now gently put the raviolis and fry them until golden brown from both sides.

  13. Serve hot with tomato sauce Or chutney. If you are left with extra dough preserve them into an air tight container and place them in fridge Or freezer for future use.
Notes
1. Ensure the filling is not too much else will burst while frying. Also be vigilant when sealing the edges of the ravioli.
2. You could use any stuffing of your choice but avoid anything which has lot of moisture as that will make you ravioli soggy and not crispy.
3. Also fry them on medium heat else it will burn.
4. You can add black pepper powder instead of chilies. Also use your favorite herbs.
5. While you rolling and giving shape ensure its thin. As the thinner your ravioli the crispier it would be.

I cannot blame your hubby, these really are drool worthy. I have had deep fried ravioli but nothing like this-your dough recipe does look incredibly toasty. Pasta dough does not come out like this when fried and always requires some type of bread crumb. I really do need to try your recipe. I am so craving these right now. Well done!
