Easy Okra Indian Syle recipe with step by step photos. I and mom bought lot of okras from market today. Mom thought of making a quick and simple recipe called as Easy Okra Indian Style. Okras are also called as Bhindi in India also known as Ladies finger. This Okra recipe is simple to make yet tasty. Have this Easy Okra Indian Style with Hot rotis or naan. Okras are great for health and also most of our favorites. I never had liking for Okras however my fiancé loves okra. I developed habit eating Okra and now I like them. Sometimes we got to develop good habits right 🙂

Okra is well known for many benefits. Some of the benefits are okra helps in digestion acts as a laxative. Okra is great to eat during summer also an ideal vegetable  for weight loss. Its got lot of vitamins, proteins, folic acid, magnesium, calcium and fiber. So what you waiting for please include okra in your diet frequently.

Easy Okra Indian Style

I was zapped at Okras benefits and so many years I didn’t eat them. However I am planning to make some more Okra dishes so that I can eat the quite often. Gosh god has rewarded us with great vegetables thankful to him for everything!

I can’t stop praising Okra… looks like I am falling over head and heels with Ladies Finger. Only Okra has the luck factor to be called as Ladies Finger lol.

Total Time: 10 mins cooking 10 mins preparing

Serves: 4 to 5 People

Ingredients:

  • 250 gms Fresh Okra slit vertically
  • 1 Big sized Onion Or 2 Small Onion
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 2 Green Chilies chopped
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric
  • 6 to 7 Garlic cloves chopped
  • 1 tbsp Amchur Powder(Dry Mango powder) Or 1 tbsp Lime Juice
  • Salt as per taste

Method:

Firstly buy fresh okras. Clean them a wet cloth. Now chop their head and tail.

Slit vertically with knife. If the Okras are big in size cut them into 2 pieces. If okras are small just slit them vertically no need to chop them.

Take a wok or vessel. Add oil once oil is hot saute chopped onion and garlic. Fry the onion and garlic for about 2 mins on low flame. Also add green chilies, turmeric and saute them for a minute.

Now add okras and stir gently.

Cover them with a lid for about 7 mins on low flame.

Finally add salt and amchur powder Or lime juice. Combine all of them well. Let it cook for about 3 mins more.

Serve hot with rotis or naan. Garnish with coriander leaves. You can also club Easy Okra Indian Style with dal and rice.

Tip:

  1. Amchur powder tastes great but you can use lime juice as an alternative.
  2. You can add chopped potatoes as well. However please note potatoes will take a longer time to cook. So you can use par boiled potatoes. Chop them into small pieces . Once the onion-garlic is added. Saute the potatoes for about 2 mins more. Now follow the same guidelines.
  3. If more spice required you can add more chilies.
