Again Chole Bhatura is one of my favorite dish. I am sure you will also like them once you taste it. Sunita hope you like this dish and this time, post helps you in making good bhatura with yeast.

I clubbed bhatura with amritsari chole and beetroot raita. We had a sumptuous dinner last thursday. Weekend was great we met our close friends almost two months later. So we all were charged up and went to some great places to eat food.

I must say there are some real great joints and restaurants in pune which serves great food, ambiance, music and crowd. Also I must admit along with great food Pune has great house and properties to explore!

I always think why it’s Monday after Sunday? I am sure all of us think as monday always comes back with daily chores, routine life for everyone and mostly we all are in Monday Blues 😉 right?

Learn how to make bhatura with yeast recipe step by step:

1. Take half cup of warm water the water should be warm enough to dip your fingers. I usually microwave water for 40 secs on high power. Now add yeast to it along with sugar. Give a nice stir and cover with a lid. Place it in a warm and humid place for 7 to 8 mind. Once the yeast gets nice frothy and bubbly it’s ready to use.

4. Place into a greased vessel with a damp cloth Or cling film over it. Keep in a warm Or humid place for an hour Or until it doubles it size. Now again knead for 2 mins and shape into small balls about 2-inch size. Again keep for an hour to rise. Sometimes due to cold Or rainy climate, your dough might take a longer time to rise up.

5. Dust some flour on your working surface. Now roll the risen balls with a roller. Shape them into round shape Or oval shape as you make rotis but keep the thickness slightly thicker than Rotis (Indian Bread). You can roll them into round shape or even triangular shape looks great. Now take a deep frying pan add oil. Wait until oil is fuming. Now gently place Bhatures and fry one by one. Keep the gas on medium heat. Give some pressure with the back of a spoon while frying Bhaturas. Fry from both sides and it should be light golden brown. Please don’t burn them.

6. Place the fried Bhaturas on a paper napkin to remove excess oil. Bhaturas taste great once hot so fry them just before eating. Serve with Amritsari Chole with hot Bhatures along some salad or raita. Also you can club with Beetroot Raita Or chutney along with your Amritsari Chole.

Recipe type: Main, veg
RecipeCuisine: North Indian
recipeIngredient (used american measuring cup, 1 cup = 250 ml)
  • 3 cup wheat flour
  • 1 cup refined flour (maida)
  • 1.5 tbsp salt
  • 1.5 tbsp ajwain seed (carom seeds)
  • 1 tbsp dry active yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 7 to 8 tbsp plain curd
  • ½ cup warm water Or as required
  • 1 tbsp oil + 2 cup oil for deep frying bhaturas
How to make the recipe?
  1. Take half cup of warm water the water should be warm enough to dip your fingers. I usually microwave water for 40 secs on high power. Now add yeast to it along with sugar. Give a nice stir and cover with a lid. Place it in a warm and humid place for 7 to 8 mind. Once the yeast gets nice frothy and bubbly it's ready to use.
  2. Sieve both flour, salt, ajwain seeds and keep aside. Add the activated yeast to the sifted flour. Knead with your fingers it will appear like crumbs.
  3. Now add curd and knead into a soft and smooth dough. Add little warm water if required. the dough shouldn't be too dry Or too sticky. Knead for 10 to 15 mins lastly add 1 tbsp oil. Shape into an oval shape.

Notes
1. You can keep the excess dough in the fridge and use it the next day. But keep them covered with a cling film Or else it will dry out.
2. I have used wheat flour for fiber. You can skip wheat flour as ideally Bhatures are suppose to me made in Refined flour(Maida)

Hi Maria I think this may be a bit shocking but could I make the dough in a bread machine? Or would it be too difficult to control the water for moisture? Thank you so much. Looking forward to trying. Loved your directions.

Naseera Bhaturas have to be fried in hot oil or they will absorb more oil. Hope this information helps you.

It was very bitter. I think the tea did it. What kind of tea bags did you use?

Are you asking for the chole recipe??? If yes then have used mild tea bags like assam tea or use amla instead for coloring. Hope this helps you.
