Today is last day of navratri so we made this Indian dessert called as Moong Dal Kheer Recipe.  You can also call it as Moong Dal Payasam….Moong Dal Kheer Recipe is made with yellow mung dal, jaggery, mava (khoya) also called dried whole milk. This Moong Dal Kheer is healthy, nutritious and low fat. We all loved Moong Dal Kheer at home! It tastes amazing and great to have as a dessert Or offering at any festive occassion 🙂

I had this dessert for my breakfast lol ….. you can understand how much I love sweets. Early morning is the safest and great time to eat sweets 😉

This time I have clicked snaps on my terrace. It’s too breezy and my dishes were almost flying. I did managed to click few snaps outdoor. But I had to get them inside the house after a few clicks. I was searching for natural sunlight. Well will have to hear from you guys how were the snaps?

I do get annoyed when my snaps doesn’t comes out the way I want to. Light is very important factor for good photography. I try to cook during day time as in the night when I click pics. The quality of pics are not that great. Anyways moving towards our Moong Dal Kheer Recipe.

Let’s make moong dal kheer recipe with stepwise instructions:

  1. Soak rice and mung dal for about 2 hours Or overnight in 1 cup water for each. I don’t have pic for this one.

2. Firstly boil soaked mung dal and rice along with water in a heavy bottomed pan. Cook for more 5 to 6 mins.

3. Once it starts boiling add all dryfruits. Cook on low heat for another 2 mins.

4. Add grated jaggery and keep stirring continuously for another 2 mins.

5. It’s time to add mava/khoya and milk into the mixture. Let it boil for another 5 mins.

6. By now the mixture will thicken. Infuse saffron with little hot milk. Add saffron infused milk and crushed green cardamom into it.

7. Let this boil for another 4 mins. Now switch off the gas. Serve this hot Or chilled. I just could not resist hence had it hot hot.

  • 100 gms yellow mung dal soaked in water for 2 hours Or overnight
  • 50 gms rice soaked in water for 2 hours Or overnight
  • 250 ltr milk
  • 100 gms grated jaggery
  • 7 to 8 almonds
  • 7 to 8 cashewnuts
  • 7 to 8 raisins
  • 3 to 4 green cardamom powder Or whole cardamom
  • 1 t/s saffron (kesar)
  • 2 cups water
  • 50 gms mava/khoya (dried whole milk)

      Una you can skip the khoya or make khoya home instead. Hope this information helps you, thanks.

    Hows life with you, hope you are doing goody goody. Summers are setting in slowly and Winters are bading us good-bye.

    Finally I made this on my birthday on Wednesday and it was tooooooo good Maria, very different kind of recipe, before I was worried to make this thinking how will it come out, but you need patience to make this, readers go ahead with this recipe and I assure you that you all will be highly satisfied and I am going to make this again on Sunday as surprisingly my hubby almost ate all the kheer.
