Matki Sabzi Recipe, How to make Matke Sabzi | Moth Beans Sprout

Matki Sabzi Recipe with step by step photos. Matki/moth beans have great health benefits! Moth Beans have lot of fiber, calcium, proteins and minerals. That too I am sharing a matki sprout recipe. Healthy, low fat but delicious. Also bachelors can make them easily. Do try out this yum Moth Beans Sprout. Moth beans are also called as Matki commonly in India.

The best part of this dish is you can have them any time of the day. You can eat as a breakfast, lunch, brunch, meal, evening snack, dinner. Once can even introduce  Moth bean to toddlers in their diet. Moth beans can me made in many ways. In India Moth beans are made in various kinds. Moth beans usal, moth beans curry, moth beans vegetables also a famous recipe called missal is made.

Also I love the simplicity of this dish. Not much of heavy spices. It is good to eat them in summer Or the day you feel eating light food. You can buy moth sprout from the market or even make them at home… Choice is yours. We have sprouted the moth beans at home. Soaked the sprouted Moth Beans in water overnight before making them.

How to make matki sabzi recipe step by step:

  1. First take oil in a vessel. Keep the gas on low flame. Once oil is hot add chopped onions. Once the onion is light pink in color.

2. Add turmeric, coriander seed powder, garam masala.

3. Add tomatoes and saute them for about a minute.

4. It is time to add Moth bean sprout. Now gently combine all of them well.

5. Cover with a lid with some water on it. You can see in the pic.

6. Let this boil for about 15 to 20 mins. Taste once the moth beans are cooked.

7. Your Moth beans sprout are ready. Serve hot with chapatis  Or as a side starter.

Garnish with few coriander leaves.

  • 150 Gms Moth Beans (Matki)
  • 1 Tomato chopped
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 1 Green Chili chopped
  • 1 t/s Turmeric
  • 1 tbsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 t/s Coriander Seed Powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • 2 tbsp Oil
How to make the recipe?

  5. Cover with a lid with some water on it. You can see in the pic.
  6. Let this boil for about 15 to 20 mins. Taste once the moth beans are cooked.
  7. Your Moth beans sprout are ready.
  8. Serve hot with chapatis Or as a side starter.
  9. Garnish with few coriander leaves.
Notes
1. Soak the moth bean sprout in water overnight before cooking them. As this will help in faster cooking of Moth beans.
2. If you wish you can add potatoes. However potatoes take a longer time to cook so do remember that.
3. Also you can add grated fresh coconut for garnishing.
