Mush Mush …… Mushy Mushrooms…..Mushrooms are one of my favorites vegetables be it sandwiches, pastas , pizzas or just plain mushroom Saute. So I decided to make Mushrooms on Toast Recipe – Mushroom Toast. I just love Mushrooms thoroughly though Mushrooms were never a part of my diet since childhood. I started eating Mushrooms just a few years back and I am glad Mushrooms exist. Today Mushrooms are an integral part of my diet.
Mushrooms are enriched with Amino Acids,Zinc,copper ,Iron,Folic Acid and Phosphorus. Mushrooms have very less calories and contain approximately 80 to 90 percent water. Therefore Mushrooms are great in losing weight and can be replaced for non vegeterian products like meat and chicken. Mushroom are great for vegeterians and also for vegans. Mushrooms are also believed to help fight against cancer. Mushrooms are also great for building immunity,vitality in our body.
Mushrooms are my favoruite because of the unique taste ,flavor it gives to the food also cooks instantly. I would suggest you also to include mushrooms in your diet daily or atleast weekly.
My fiancée doesn’t like mushrooms for some reason he himself doesn’t know. But after giving him mushrooms is sandwiches ,pastas, noodles he likes Mushrooms a lot and I am happy about it.
There are various kinds of Mushrooms available in the market like Button Mushrooms, Dried Oyster Mushrooms etc.
I have used button Mushrooms which are easily available in local stores costs 28 to 30 Rs /- per packet. Please see the manufacturing date when you buy mushrooms also the white the mushrooms the better they are . Once you bring mushrooms home please wash them under running tap water and remove the black sticky substance which is the moisture on mushrooms.
I am gonna share with you my favorite section Sandwiches and that too with Mushrooms! lol 🙂
Preparation Time : 25 mins (Cooking time 5 mins on gas ,15 mins on Toaster and rest preparation time)
Serves : 2 People
- 8 big-sized Mushrooms
- 1 tomato
- 12 pods of Garlic
- 2 t/s Black Pepper or 2 Green Chillies (As per your choice)
- 2 cheese cubes
- Salt as per taste
- 2 tbsp butter or olive oil
- 4 strands of Coriander Leaves
Firstly take the Mushrooms wash them,slice them also take tomatoes and chop them into thin slices.
Now slice chillies thin,cut garlic into thin pieces, cut coriander leaves and keep them aside. Now take a small pan add 1 tbsp olive oil or butter on a low fire add garlic, green chillies into it.
After a minute add,tomatoes,salt .
Now add mushrooms also and stir it.
Saute the mixture on medium fire until the water of mushrooms dries out completely.
Its time to add coriander leaves into the mixture.
Take 4 slices of bread butter them and grate cheese on them. I have added cheese first to block the moisture of mushroom and tomatoes to go into the bread . Now add the mushroom mixture and spread them evenly on the bread. You can add more cheese if you like a lot of cheese. Now cover it with the other sliced bread
Repeat the above procedure with the next slice of bread. Take both slices grill or toast them on a electric sandwich maker on medium mode for about 15 mins.
If you don’t have an electric toaster or sandwich maker simply toast the bread on pan or OTG and just add the mixture onto it and serve hot with sauce. However I prefer in an electric toaster because the sandwich tastes more yummy that way.
Once the bread is golden brown remove them with a wooden spatula from the toaster ,slice them and serve hot with sauce or chutney.
Its great to have sandwiches during rainy season, winter or summer during evenings or mornings. Its tasty at the same time very healthy. So what are you waiting for ?
- While using toaster rub butter or olive oil on both the sides to make your sandwiches nice and brown.
- To wash Mushrooms before cooking is of utmost importance for hygiene.
