I was quite content, happy after making these swirls. It’s quite easy if you know basic baking of bread. These Indian spices just adds a lot of flavor, aroma and taste to the breads. You could just spread your favorite cheese spread, butter Or just eat the swirls.

These breads give nice glaze and looks tempting. Mine got over the same day. Some we ate with tea rest we ate with lunch. These swirls also tastes great with curry. We ate with Bombay duck curry……. I know you are jealous.  So simply make these Spicy Swirl Bread and eat them.

Let’s make spicy swirl bread recipe step by step:

  1. Preheat oven at 180°C for about 5 mins before baking. Grease the pan with oil Or butter. I don’t have pics for step 1 and step 2.

2. Take lukewarm water add yeast to it. Combine sugar stir with a spoon. Keep it in a humid place for 7 to 10 mins for frothing. Once the yeast has froth and is bubbling add salt to it. Keep this mixture aside. Take all whole spices from number 6 to 9. Just crush the with a Pestle and mortar them.

3. Please just crush them don’t be too harsh else powder will form.

12. Brush the egg yolk on the swirls. Finally sprinkle with the reserve crushed spices following the pattern of your bread. Again keep these swirls into a humid place covered with a damp cloth. This will double up their size in 30 mins Or may be a little earlier.

13. Place these swirls on baking dish Or pan.  Bake at 180°C for about 12 to 14 mins Or until dark brown in color. You could place them one inch apart however I didn’t have a big container hence my swirls beautifully baked. We pulled the bread apart and ate them.

14. Transfer the swirls on a wire rack to cool down. Your Spicy Swirl Bread is ready. Serve hot with a hot cup of tea.

Tip:

  • Vegetarians can discard eggyolks. Once your swirls are baked just brush some butter on the bread for the glaze.
  • You could use your own combination of spices like oregano, jalapeno, chili flakes, blackpepper.
  • Instead of swirls you could just bake them in a loaf pan.

Enjoy Swirling!
