Banana Sheera Recipe or Sooji Halwa Recipe with step by step photos – Learn How to make banana sheera recipe with step by step photos. Sheera is a dessert made from semolina, bananas, milk and sugar mainly. Sheera is also known as sooji halwa or banana pudding with semolina. This dessert has been my favorite since childhood as eaten them on many occasions and reason. Be it Satyanarayana pooja, offering to god or any auspicious day sheera or halwa is always made.
I and my sister have grown up eating this in our childhood. Mom used to make them quite often and they taste best with over-ripe bananas. The tradition still continues banana sheera is still made quite often feeling quite nostalgic about it.
Adding nuts are optional however prefer adding them for a nutty and crunchy flavor. Prefer making sheera in ghee and milk for the traditional taste. However, you could use oil and water if allergic to milk products or a vegan.
I always roast my semolina for 3-4 mins on low heat. Then allow them to come to room temperature and store in air-tight containers. This process help’s in preserving the semolina for a longer time also avoid the formation of the worm.
Already posted sooji halwa, mango sooji halwa and vegan sooji halwa on our blog. I would try posting more sheera or halwa recipes as there are so many ways to make them.
