Dahi Kadhi Recipe, How to make Dahi Kadhi with Pakoras Recipe

Dahi Kadhi with Pakoras an amazing recipe to eat in summer, rain or winter. Hmmmm how many of you like dahi or yoghurt ? I think 95% people like yoghurt In India and also consume Dahi. It was a quite a hot day in Mumbai and I felt like eating something light and refreshing so I told my mum to make Dahi Kadhi with Pakoras.

Dahi Kadi with Pakoras

Dahi is amazing to eat during summer known to be great appetizer and helps in digestion because of good bacteria in Dahi. Dahi also known as Curd, Yoghurt is mainly used in northern regions of India. There are many varieties of Dahi available like Butter Milk,Shrikhand which is made from dahi(hung curd), Probiotic Dahi, Spiced Butter Milk… etc.

We often consume dahi with Biryani, In Raitas, with Parathas…. dal rice … list is endless. Dahi is very popular all over the world for its great properties and health benefits.

Without wasting time I will share the Dahi Kadi recipe with you . Dahi Kadi recipe is made by my mum almost every week during summers. To add to the dish we add Pakoras to enhance further the taste of Dahi Kadi.

Dahi Kadi with Pakoras

Preparation Time:

Serves – 5 to 6 people

Ingredients :

  • 200 gms Curd or Dahi
  • 2 tbsp Besan (Gram flour)
  • 1 t/s Haldi(Turmeric powder)
  • 12 to 14 curry leaves
  • 6 red round chillies
  • 1 t/s hing (asofoetida powder)
  • 2 t/s methi seed(fenugreek seed)
  • 2 t/s saunf (fennel seed)
  • 2 t/s cummin seed
  • 1 t/s Cummin seed powder
  • 1 t/s Dhaniya Powder
  • 2 t/s Chilli Powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • Onion Pakoras

Dahi Kadi with Pakoras

Step 2 – For Dahi Kadi

Take curd in a vessel

Now add besan into curd.

Dahi Kadi with Pakoras

Add haldi powder and blend into a grinder to form a smooth paste.

Take a kadhai add oil into it .Now add curry leaves, fennel seed, fenugreek seeds,cummin seeds , Hing , red round chillies and salt .

Fry them for a minute on medium fire.

Now add curd – besan mixture to it and stir well.

Add about 1 cup of water check the consistency if thick add little water it should be curry consistency.

Now add jeera,  dhaniya , chilli powder and salt to it.

Let it boil once it starts giving bubbles than add fried Onion Pakoras and steam for 4 to 5 mins.

Now remove the curry keep aside. Decorate with curry leaves and serve hot with steamed rice and papad.

Tip:

Ensure there are no lumps formed in the curry keep stirring it ocassionally.
