So what’s cooking today hmmm delicious Paneer Indian Recipe. Paneer also known as Cottage cheese. Paneer is commonly used in Indian dishes. Being Indian love for paneer comes automatically. Power packed with proteins Paneer is great for health. The Paneer Indian Recipe which I am gonna share with all of you…. Is made in a unique style. This Paneer Indian Recipe has a slight hint of Moghlai. Quite rich with carbohydrates. Also this Paneer Indian Recipe has great taste I can assure that!
Paneer is more often used in northern region of India. Paneer can be made with so many variations and styles. You can experiment a lot with cooking Paneer. Also the best thing about Paneer is it cooks instantly. Oh! there are some famous recipes for Paneer like…. Palak Paneer, Paneer Pasanda, Paneer Makhanwala, Paneer Tikka, Paneer handi.. The list goes on and on.
Mom had bought Paneer home. So as usual I asked her what style are we cooking paneer today. To which she said blend of all Indian spices with Rich cashew gravy. To which I frowned as I knew exactly how she is gonna prepare this. My mouth started watering …. yumm Paneer.
There are a lot of ingredients used to make this Paneer Indian Recipe. But don’t get scared it isn’t tough to make!

Total Time: 40 mins
Serves: 5 to 6 People
Ingredients:
- 200 gms Paneer cubes Or Chopped Paneer into rectangular shape
- 1 Big Tomato Chopped
- 1 Big Onion Chopped
- 3 Green Chilies
- 1 Inch Ginger Chopped
- 7 to 8 Garlic Cloves
- 3 to 4 strands of Coriander Leaves
- 7 Cashew nuts
- 3 tbsp Watermelon seeds (Magaj)
- 3 tbsp White Sesame seeds (Til)
- 1 Bay leaf
- 1 tbsp Cumin seed
- 2 tbsp Kasoori Methi
- 2 tbsp Yogurt
- 2 tbsp Oil
- Salt as per taste
Method:
Onion Paste: Chop onion into medium size. Grind into the mixer until smooth. Keep This Onion Puree aside.
Tomato Puree: Chop the tomato. Grind until smooth. Strain if required.
Green paste: Grind chilies, garlic, ginger, 2 strands of Coriander leaves. Grind until smooth.
Cashew Paste: Immerse cashew nuts, sesame seeds, melon seeds into water for about 10 to 15 mins. Now grind until uniform paste.
For Gravy:
Take a wok or vessel. Add oil wait until it is hot. Add bay leaf and cumin seeds.
Once the cumin seeds is crackling add Onion Paste. Keep the gas on low flame. Also add green paste.
Keep stirring them for about 3 mins until the mixture turns brownish color.
Add the tomato puree. Combine all of them well.
Let this gravy boil for another 2 mins. Now add Paneer cubes along with yogurt.
Once the gravy starts bubbling add Cashew paste. Add salt as per taste. Also once Paneer and all the masalas are almost cooked add kasoori methi.
The gravy should be ready in another 5 mins. Once Paneer is cooked the dish is ready.
Serve Paneer Indian Recipe hot with Rotis Or Rice.
Garnish with few coriander leaves and cashew nuts.
Tip:
- You can use tofu with the same ingredients.
- Also if you wish to add potatoes. Do add them but be aware potatoes will consume more time to cook. So you can add boiled potatoes instead.
- There is no need to add additional masalas.
- Prepare all the pastes before you make this dish 🙂

Few days back I had bookmarked this recipe and finally I made this yesterday, it is so tasty Maria, I swear! very different apart from the regaular paneer recipes I make. Thanks for the recipe. I want you try please please give the recipe of spicy paneer tikka, as i had tried once and it was a disastrous disaster, i still remember my whole paneer burnt as well as my HEART from inside.

Thanks for your views. Also thanks for highlighting as I haven’t mentioned when to use kasoori methi. You just have to add kasoori methi once the dish is almost cooked. Please don’t make a paste of kasoori methi as it will taste bitter. The best part is to ad kasoori methi is once the paneer is almost cooked.
