Cabbage Paratha recipe is an easy, healthy and nutritious dish to make home at any time of the day. I have used purple cabbage you could use green cabbage also for this recipe. In Indian we love to binge parathas with pickle (achar), raita or any gravy based dish. I love eating them plain with a hot cup of tea for breakfast. Cabbage paratha also known as gobi paratha is very popular recipe towards Northern India.

It’s quite chilled here in Pune sometimes the temperature goes to 5º C at night and early mornings. So it’s fun to eat parathas, soups, sandwiches, curries etc. Personally I love cold weather and monsoon 😉
Coming back to the recipe. Purple Cabbage is good for heart. Any vegetable which is purple in color is good for heart like the purple yam etc. Moreoever they fight cancer, have vitamin K, full of antioxidants, great for losing weight, good for skin, is full of fiber and is a low calorie food.
I use purple cabbage leaves as a layer for burgers, add them in french fries, mix mayo and toss them in salad. This time I have made 2 Indian dishes with them one is purple cabbage fritters and paratha.
The dough for this recipe could be made ahead and kept in the fridge. Thaw them then you are ready to use the dough for parathas. We ate our parathas with amaranth vegetable and aloo dry sabzi . Also clubbed some pickle and onion salad.
To enhance the taste further have added white sesame seed and coriander leaves. I have just added some garam masala powder for flavoring the parathas. You could add spices of your choice and make them as per your preference.
Let’s make step by step Cabbage Paratha Recipe:
1. Combine purple cabbage, onion, green chilies and ginger.
2. Add coriander leaves and cumin seed.
3. Now add sesame seed, garam masala powder, amchur and salt for seasoning.
4. Add whole wheat flour. Mix all nicely.
5. The cabbage would also leave water so add water sparingly. Knead into a soft dough. allow the dough to rest for 15 mins.
6. Make lemon sized balls. Roll into flat round discs about 4 inc in size by dusting some flour.
7. Fry them on a hot tawa / pan. I used an iron pan.
8. Fry from both sides until you see small specks or dots.
9. Drizzle some oil or butter over the rotis. Repeat the same with the rest of dough. If you remain with extra dough cover and keep in the fridge for future use.
10. Serve your purple cabbage parathas with pickle, veggies or gravies of your choice.
If you are fond of parathas then do check aloo paratha, palak paneer paratha, chicken keema paratha, palak laccha paratha and chocolate paratha.
