Fish Ambotik Curry Recipe – Ambotik is spicy and sour fish curry made in Goa – Konkan Belt in Maharashtra-India. There are a lot of variations to make Ambotik Curry, however, this variation tastes great along with my first version. This recipe is tasty, tangy, spicy and too tempting just great for fish lovers. Be careful once you make Fish Ambotik Curry Recipe you might end eating loads of rice and you won’t even realize it. So don’t wait just make this Goan Specialty Fish Ambotik Curry Recipe 🙂

Fish Ambotik Curry Recipe

Ambotik is made with Indian Spices. Also, most of these ingredients are available in the kitchen. if not available please get them from the market lol. You could use any fish for this recipe.

My entire family including my pet relished this awesome Fish Ambotik Curry with a fish fry. Vow the lunch was really great. Looking forward to eating the same stuff for dinner. My dog is wagging her tail much before dinner time to eat this fish.

Prawns, Pomfrets, Sharks, Shrimps, Salmon, Sushis, Sweet water fish any fish will taste great. When you will combine fish with these spices what I have used. Your fish curry would taste great I can assure you that.

How to make Fish Ambotik Curry Recipe:

  1. Get fresh fish sliced and cleaned. Once fish is cleaned rub some salt and keep it aside.

2. Combine kashmiri chilies, tamarind, garlic, turmeric, 1/2 onion, methi seeds with some coriander leaves. Grind into the processor until a smooth, orange and thick paste is formed. Add little water if required.

3. Take a big wok or vessel. Add oil keep the heat on low mode. Add rest of chopped onion and saute them.

4. After a minute add the orange paste along with few coriander leaves and saute.

5. Add tomato chunks and saute.

6. Saute for a minute.

7. Now add water as consistency required. Its time to add fish. Stir gently as fish might break.

8. Now cover it with a lid for 5 to 6 mins on medium heat.

9. Your Fish Ambotik Curry Recipe is ready. Garnish with few coriander leaves.

10. Serve hot with Pav Or Bread Or You could also eat with steamed rice.

  • 1 tbsp turmeric
  • 1 t/s fenugreek (methi) seeds
  • few coriander leaves

  • 2 cups water Or as consistency required

    Do you mean teaspoon or tablespoon for the tamarind?
