Although for the Parsi Mawa Cake  I haven’t used Mawa. If you wish you could use Mawa entirely upto you. If you are using sweet mawa be careful about sugar proportion in the cake.

There are various variations of Mawa Cake. One is with egg, other is eggless. However it  was my first attempt hence I used eggs. Also I have added Cocoa and made a slight variation to the cake. As I love chocolate so added cocoa powder. you can omit Cocoa powder if you want Plain Mawa cake.

So what say lets proceed to the Parsi Mawa cake Recipe!. Also let me tell you this I have adapted this recipe from adhi potoba http://potoba.blogspot.com/2008/10/kayani-bakery-and-mawa-cake.html. Its very easy to make even a first time beginner can attempt this Parsi Mawa Cake Recipe.

Total Time: 1hour 20 mins ( 1 hour Baking rest Making)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter (softened)
  • 1 cup Icing sugar Or Brown Sugar Or Granulated Sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract Or Vanilla Essence
  • 2 cups all purpose Flour (Maida)
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 3 tbsp Cocoa Powder
  • 2 tbsp Condensed Milk

Method:

Firstly take a a baking pan of any shape you desire. I have taken round one. You could also use cupcakes if you wish too. Grease the pan with butter or margarine on all sides. Take a parchment paper or butter paper of the shape of the bottom of your pan.

For instance if your baking pan is round cut the butter or baking paper as per the bottom size and shape. This is very convenient to unmould the cake. I always do that so thought of sharing my secret with you. Place the butter paper on the greased pan. Preheat the oven at 180°C.

Hi Sapna if you read my post I have mentioned you can make this cake with mawa Or without mawa it’s entirely upto you :). Since I also adpated this cake from a site as I was a beginner in cakes that time. You could use about 4 to 5 tbsp grated mawa for this cake Or try this eggless cake here is the link for it http://www.flavorsofmumbai.com/eggless-sponge-cake/….take care 🙂

Hey Sapna thanks you could check out this link for eggless mawa cake http://www.flavorsofmumbai.com/eggless-sponge-cake/ and also for Parsi mawa cake you could use 4 tbsp flaxseed + 12 tbsp water grind them into a paste and than use. It’s a great replacement for eggs in cakes. Hope this helps you 🙂
