Today is Ganesha Festival hence thought of sharing  Ganesh Chaturthi Recipes both sweet and savory. I am not a hindu but have always been associated with Indian festivals since childhood be it Diwali, Christmas, Eid or Parsi Newyear.  I feel blessed and honored to be an Indian and enjoy all the festivals in one country.

Ganesh Chaturthi Recipes, Vinayaka Chaturthi Recipes -2016

In my childhood days I have lived in a chawl and post that we shifted to a decent location. However I sometimes miss my childhood days where we used to play a lot and go to each other’s house and celebrate all the festivals in pomp. I used to also participate in events during ganesha and navratri festivals. I have always loved the spirit of Mumbai people during festivals as well as during crisis.

I was also stuck in the 2005 water floods in Mumbai and was so happy to receive help from Mumbaikars providing shelter and food to the helpless people. I am sharing something personal but sometimes it’s good to express.

Coming back to ganesh chaturthi recipes …… you would find all kind of dishes you could make during the festival. I remember whenever I have visited friends during ganesha festival have always relished the satvik food. Food like dal, varan bhat, usal, rice poori, pooris, potato sabzi, kheer, modak etc served on a banana leaf.

Towards the south and gujarat side the sweets and savory differs than the Maharashtra region. Lot of fasting and penance is done during ganpati festival. Even food are made which are Ganesha favorite. My sister told me Lord Ganesha loves sweet made from rice flour, coconut, poppy- seed, banana and jaggery. Also for offering lord ganesha loves hibiscus flowers, marigold and dhua grass.
