Easy Beetroot Raita Recipe – a chilled, healthy raita made from beetroot, curd, chilies and spices. They go well with any rice dish like pulao or biryani. Also, this condiment is great to be eaten during summers as they act as a coolant to your body. So do make them for your family as they are healthy and low fat too.
Beetroot is very healthy as it lowers pressure provides nutrients to our body and is great for anemic patient’s. For some reason, I cannot eat beetroot in raw form. Hence, find innovative ideas to consume them in form or rice, parathas, cakes and raitas. Even fussy eaters would eat this raita and relish them as my hubby did. In fact, I could just eat them just like that sometimes even add little sugar it tastes even much better 🙂
This is a quick recipe all you need is chilled yogurt and boiled beetroot. You could use raw beetroot but I prefer boiled. For adding some spice added green chilies. The sweetness from the beetroot and spice coming from chilies perfectly balances the raita. Just to add some tang add chat masala.
This raita looks good, tastes good and feels good. Seldomly you come across dishes which has a good presentation by itself. Mostly you have to garnish the dish to look good.
Let’s make Beetroot Raita recipe step by step:
- Combine chilled yogurt with chat masala and black salt.
2. Whisk nicely and then add the chopped beetroot. You could even use a raw beetroot and even grate them instead of chopping.
3. Mix all nicely.
4. Have added green chilies towards the end as they give a good presentation. So it’s up to you add first or last.
5. Serve your beetroot raita chilled along any rice dish like pulao, biryani or khichdi.

- 200 gm chilled yogurt
- 1 small beetroot or 1/4th cup chopped beetroot (boiled and chopped finely)
- 1-2 green chilies chopped fine
- 1 tbsp chat masala
- black salt as required
- Combine chilled yogurt with chat masala and black salt.
- Whisk nicely and add chopped beetroot.
- Also, add green chiles mix all well.
- Serve your beetroot raita chilled.
