Todays is Rakhi festival hence thought of sharing the raksha bandhans recipes!
Wish everyone of you a Happy Rakshabandhan 🙂 Now what is rakshabandhan? Raksha means protect and bandhan means bond also known as Rakhi Purnima in India. Rakhi Or Rakshabandhanis a festival in India which celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters. The festival is marked by the tying of a rakhi or holy thread, which comes in many colors and designs, by the sister on the wrist of her brother. The brother in return offers a gift to his sister and vows to look after her as she presents sweets to him. The brother usually presents his sister with an envelope filled with money however, other presents such as saris and clothing can be given. The brother and sister traditionally feed one another with Indian sweets! For more information on this festival click on wikipedia.org.
The sweets which are made on this occasion include sweets like gulab jamuns, rabdi, barfi, ladoos, kheer, jalebi, phirni etc. Also many other recipes like chole bhature, aloo puri, pulao, biryani etc are made on this special occasion. Some also make spicy and namkeen stuff. Anyways I am gonna share some recipes on my blog which you can make during this festive occasion!
Hope all of you enjoy the collection of my rakshabandhan recipes 🙂

What a great festival! Why don’t we do things like this. I have two wonderful sisters but we never tell each other what we think of each other. A festival would be one way to celebrate each other. That’s a great selection of recipes and I can see my favourite – your peas potato chop.
