French Fries (step by step)

June 2, 2020 by maria 2 Comments

This is a easy French Fries Recipe which could be eaten anytime of the day. Personally my favorite and also favorite in the house. We always have french fries as a starter of as a side dish whenever we go to any joint or restaurant. Even kids love them but it’s always better to make them home as you could make how much you wish to and also how you want them to taste and make as per your liking.

French Fries (step by step)

I like french fries with peri peri sauce or powder also the ones you get in KFC with peri peri mix. Even when served with chili sauce, tobasco or tomato sauce or green chutney. Love to eat them plain as a side dish with sandwiches or as a tea time snack. Enough of my excuses just love them 🙂

There are many ways french fries are made. The version today made is for making crispy fries. It would be crispy from out and soft from within. Further you could season or spice them with red chili flakes, oregano, dry herbs, pepper powder, paprika powder, salt, sea salt, coriander leaves etc. Spice them the way you want and season them accordingly.

My mom parboils the potato and fries them which we still love. However this is a different recipe where have immersed potatoes in salted water. Later fried them at a high temperature for getting the crispy fries. If you don’t get crispy at the first go then fry them twice. Tried many times and love the way the fries turn out with this method. One of my friend had shared this process of making fries and I am thankful to her 🙂

Also its advisable to immerse in water as this helps the potatoes not to turn brown. In other methods people also immerse potatoes overnight in water or keep in the fridge. But due to lack of time I haven’t tried this method.

2. Post 30 mins discard the water and spread potatoes on absorbent napkin or cloth. Ensure there is no moisture left else it would splatter on you once in hot oil.

3. Place a deep pan with oil. Once oil is hot or check adding small bit of potato if it rises up your oil is hot. Now add few of the sliced potatoes. Please don’t add too many at a time else they won’t fry evenly.

4. Fry for 5-7 mins or until the potatoes are fried. Remove them and place on absorbent napkin.

Sunita just coat the potatoes with little semolina and rice flour. Brush some oil over them and bake in a preheated oven for 10-15 mins at 180 degree celsius. All the best lemme know how it was?
