Total Time: 2 hours (Baking 10 mins rest making time)
Serves: 6 to 7 People (approximately makes about 10 to 12 rolls)
Ingredients:
- 3 cup Wheat Flour
- 1 cup Refined Flour
- 1 1/2 t/s Active Dry yeast or 10 gms Fresh Yeast
- 1 t/s Salt
- 1 tbsp Honey Or Sugar
- 1 1/2 Cup Milk
- 3 tbsp Butter
For Filling:
- 16 to 17 Garlic chopped
- 1 cup Parsley Leaves chopped
- 1 to 2 Green Chilly Chopped
- 200 gms Mushroom Chopped
Method:
First of all take 1 tbsp water with 2 tbsp Milk. Mix yeast into it. Add honey and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir it with a spoon. Leave for 7 to 10 mins the yeast should get frothy. Once yeast is frothy that means your yeast is ready to be used for Herb Bread. While the yeast is getting frothy we will make our filling.
For the filling take 1 tbsp butter into a small pan. Add garlic saute it for a minute on low flame. Put parlsey leaves, green chillies and Mushrooms. Saute this mixture until water of Mushroom dries out.
Take all dry ingredients (Sieve wheat flour, refined flour).
Combine milk and butter. Microwave on high power so that butter melts into the milk. Let the milk-butter mixture cool down.
Make a small well in the flour. Slowly add milk- butter mixture. Start mixing them with your finger tips. It will appear like small crumbs. Add the frothy yeast also into the dough.
Use all your stamina and knead for 15 to 20 mins. The more you knead the better results. To achive this dough you might have to add little flour and oil. But you will be tempted to add flour. Please don’t add more flour else unless you want hard bread. Slowly as you knead the dough will be smooth, soft but yet sticky. That is okay. Shape into a ball shape.
Take a vessel sightly oiled at the bottom. Place this dough into it and store in a humid place. Cover the dough with a damp cloth. Roughly after 30 to 40 mins the dough will double up in size. Again knead the dough for 4 to 5 mins. Shape into 11 to 12 balls.
Again keep it in humid place covered with a damp cloth. After 30 mins the balls will double up again.
Flatten each ball with your palms. Rub some oil or butter in your hand so that it doesn’t stick. Spoon some mushroom mixture on to it. Now cover the filling with the edges completely. Repeat this with all other balls. It is similar to making a modak Or making stuffed paratha.
Place all this filled balls on a greased tray. Bake at 200°C for about 10 to 15 mins. Brush the herb bread with butter on the top. Once the bread turns into brown color and gives aroma. It means your Homemade Herb Bread – Herb Bread Stuffing Recipe is done. Just wait for few minutes. Now remove the bread from the pan.
Serve hot with a cup of Tea or Coffee. You could also pat butter or slice with a cheese. Enjoy this delicious tasty bread.
How to make plain Indian Bread Or Laadi Pav?
- You could check my link out for Laadi Pav Or follow the same recipe and omit the stuffing part.
Tip:
- Always take fresh yeast if not getting frothy in few mins. Discard your yeast else your bread will be spoiled.
- You could use any vegetable for stuffing. Just ensure there is no moisture in the vegetable. Otherwise your break won’t bake properly.
- You could keep your bread dough overnight to rise. Make the bread next day.
