We always go for steamed rice but sometimes its nice to have spiced rice with some great flavors and aroma. I am not a rice lover but when it comes to Masala rice, Biryanis, Pulao’s I can’t resist myself. Indian Garam Masala Rice Recipe

There are lot of versions of Indian Garam Masala Rice Recipe in India. Some add lot of veggies like potatoes, carrots etc. Some make with plain Cumin (Jeera) commonly called as Jeera Rice out here. But this Indian Garam Masala Rice made by my mom is the best! Also better if you pressure cook this rice.

This recipe is quite simple to make. But very tempting so if you have guests do make for them this lovely Indian Garam Masala Rice Recipe! I am sure they would love it and remember you always. Somehow I am falling short of words today wonder why?

So I am gonna quickly share this moutwatering Indian Garam Masala Rice Recipe will all of you 🙂

Let’s make garam masala rice recipe stepwise:

  1. Take a pressure cooker add ghee. Keep heat on low mode. Wait until oil is hot.

2. Now add caraway seeds along with rest of spices except rice, onion and salt.

3. It’s time to add onion juliennes. Saute them until they are nice pink color.

4. Once they are soft brown in color.

5. Add washed basmati rice. Stir properly.

6. Add boiling water and salt. Now pressure cook until 2 whistles.

7. Switch off the gas. Wait for 10 mins.

Easy Indian Garam Masala Rice Recipe

recipeIngredient (used american measuring cup, 1 cup = 250 ml)
  • 250 gms basmati Rice
  • 3 to 4 tbsp ghee
  • 2 to 3 bay leaves
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 8 to 10 peppercorns
  • 1 green cardamom
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 1 tbsp caraway seeds (shahi jeera)
  • 1 bib sized onion juliennes
  • 2.5 cups boiling water
  • salt as per taste
How to make the recipe?
  1. Take a pressure cooker add ghee. Keep heat on low mode. Wait until oil is hot.

Notes
1.You can add vegetables if you wish to.
2.Cashews will give nice flavor so you can add cashew nuts as well.
3.Its preferable if you use ghee once in a while its good to be unhealthy.
4.Also adding boiled water will fasten your process of cooking rice.

    This sounds really flavorful and the tip on adding the cashews makes it even better. I have garam masala as a spice in my cabinet. However, looking at your recipe I now understand it to be a just a combination of other spices-good to know. Thanks for sharing
