Cute and delicious Lemon Sables with a shot of vodka! Sables are a French dish which is a classic, descent version of cookies. It’s light, easy to make and is utterly delicious than normal cookies. I have given a twist to Lemon Sables with hint of vodka and some candies (tutti fruity). Generally they are made with lime zest and lime juice.
Sables resembles sand hence it’s called sables which has a crumbly texture, soft and golden in color. I am looking forward to make some more sables with different versions. You could also try and share them with us. It was my hubby’s birthday had made them on a special occasion.
Got very good response from hubby, his office mates and friends. Had made around a batch of 20-25 cookies. Got over in a days time. I barely got to eat one of them that too when I just baked them. Sables are suppose to be eaten with fruit jam Or preserves as it’s less sweet as compared to other cookies.
We ate our Lemon Sables with Blueberry Preserve. The combination was lethal and out of the world. Have got already requests to make more Lemon Sables ;)…. was too busy this week hence unable to post recipes. I am stable now so will try regularly posting recipes.
Lemon Vodka sables step by step recipe below:
1. Sift flour + baking powder and keep aside. Cream butter + sugar until light and fluffy.
2. Add egg yolk, salt, butterscotch essence and lemon zest.
3. Mix in flour and start kneading into a dough. Add vodka to it. If the dough is dry add little more of vodka. The dough should be smooth and soft. Lastly add candies (tutti fruiti)
4. Divide the dough shape into 2 logs. Wrap with a cling film and freeze for an hour.
5. Gently unwrap the film and slice the dough with a width of 1/2 cm each Or as you requires. It shouldn’t be too thin Or too thick.
6. Brush the cookies all over Or towards the edges with milk. Roll over sugar. Place them over baking tray. Keep some space as they would need space to rise.
7. Bake at 180°C for 5 mins then reduce the temperature to 160°C and bake for 8 to 9 mins Or once the edges of sables turns light brown.
8. Turn sables upside down and bake for 2 mins more. Allow to cool and serve the lemon sables with fruit jam Or preserves.
