How to make Raw Banana Sabzi (South Indian & Vegan)

April 24, 2020 by maria 1 Comment

Raw Banana Sabzi Recipe – an easy dry sabzi made from raw bananas or kaccha kela, mildy spiced with spices, with a hint of fresh coconut. This recipe comes from my mothers fabulous collection 🙂 and is made quite often in our house.

How to make Raw Banana Sabzi (South Indian & Vegan)

I have posted earlier raw banana fry recipe. Mostly towards south India raw banana is widely used in their cooking. Right from chips, fries, veggies and many other recipes are made from raw bananas.

Unlike other veggies raw banana takes a longer time to cook. So be patient with them while cooking. Otherwise steam them in cooker for 7-8 mins before making their sabzi. The ingredient’s used for this recipe is easily found in your kitchen. This sabzi goes well as a side dish, meal or pulao and khichdi. You could even pack this kacche kele ki sabzi with chapatis/rotis in tiffin boxes. For variation you could try cooking potatoes, cabbage in the same style.

Many a times readers mention they don’t get fresh coconut in their region. Just get hold of fresh coconut, grate and store them in the freezer, use as and when required. In India you get coconuts in abundance but I sometimes do store my fresh grated coconut in freezer which comes handy most of the times. Also saves my time of grating or chopping the fresh coconut 😉 If you don’t manage to get fresh coconut then just use dry desiccated grated coconut but the flavor and taste would differ.
