One of my favorite is Aloo Matar Paneer Recipe!
So what’s cooking for dinner today? We had lovely aloo matar paneer with steamed rice and aloo parathas. Generally we make aloo matar Or aloo paneer so I just thought of combining all three. Aloo are potatoes, matar are peas and Paneer are cottage cheese hence the dish is called as Aloo Matar Paneer recipe.
Aloo Matar Paneer has lot of variations. However chosen my own variation as usual. This Aloo Matar Paneer has tomato puree, almond paste and made in Indian spices. My vegan friends could skip paneer from the recipe.
Mostly when people got to restaurant they will order for paneer dishes Or side dishes of paneer. Paneer is a versatile ingredient it’s used for making sweets, cakes, kheer, desserts, cheesecakes, curried, gravies, sandwiches, grilled and tandoor, fritters etc. The list of recipes are endless with paneer. Even kids love paneer so it’s and easy ingredient for mummies to play with.
Struggling a lot these days with photographs as the sunlight tends to get darker Or brighter. So monsoon is playing hide and seek with me 😉 …..next week planning to come up with non veg recipes and some readers request.
Hope all of you are enjoying monsoon and cooking great food back home. This dish is quite easy to make and can be made instantly. Looking forward to make more paneer recipes.Have made few paneer recipes like Paneer Indian Recipe, Paneer Pasanda Recipe, Palak Paneer Recipe and Mughlai Palak Paneer.
Aloo Matar Paneer Recipe step by step pictorial details and detailed instruction at the bottom of the page.
Firstly boil the potatoes allow to cool. Peel of their skin and keep aside. Toss paneer cubes into the flour. Shallow fry the paneer until golden brown from both sides. Place it aside. Alternatively you could use paneer directly into you dish. Even potatoes can be added directly into the dish. But do remember raw potatoes will take a longer time to cook.
Chop tomatoes grind them with garlic, ginger until smooth puree is formed. Grind melon seeds, sesame and almond with some water until they are smooth. Take a pan add clarified butter place on medium heat. Once pan is hot reduce the heat add caraway seeds, bay leaves. Saute until they crackle and leave aroma.
Add tomato puree and mix nicely.
Also add green peas and few coriander leaves.
It’s time to add all spice powder like turmeric, amchur powder, red chili powder, roasted cumin powder, fennel seed powder, garam masala powder, anardana powder and pav bhaji masala. Stir all the masala nicely.
Cover the pan with a lid consisting some water. Allow the peas to cook. Once it’s tender add the almond paste. Mix nicely and add water. The gravy will look creamy and thicker now.
Add boiled potatoes and shallow fried paneer. Lastly add black salt for seasoning. Taste and alter any spices Or seasoning if required.
Cook for 3 to 4 mins on medium heat. Switch off the gas and garnish with rest of coriander leaves. Serve hot with rotis Or rice.
Tip for Aloo Matar Paneer:
- You could skip paneer Or potato whatever you want to.
- I have used shallow fried paneer. You could use directly paneer into your dish.
- Also add paneer at the latter stage of cooking else it will get overcooked and taste rubbery.
- I have used home-made paneer for this dish. You could use packed ones.
- For variation instead of coriander leaves use dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi) easily available at Indian store.
