How to Cook Rice on Gas Stove Perfectly (Step by Step)

May 16, 2020 by maria 3 Comments

Learn how to cook rice on gas stove perfectly each time every time. Today let’s go back to basics and very pleased to share my recipe of cooking rice and that too fluffy and separated rice. This is a tried and tested recipe daily at my house 🙂

How to Cook Rice on Gas Stove Perfectly (Step by Step)

A perfectly cooked rice is apt for making stir fried rice, pulao, biryanis or any kind of rice recipe. Mostly for biryanis and pulaos basmati rice is used. In Italian cuisine risotto rice is used which is short grained rice. One needs to know which type of rice you are using as the cooking process would depend on that.

In India there are many types of rice available. Some of the popular ones are basmati, brown rice, ambe mohar rice (mango blossom), kolam, surti kolam and parimal rice. Ambe mohar rice are used mainly for making khichdi as they are easier to digest. The other types of rice like parimal and kolam rice are used in daily cooking as rice happens to be our staple diet.

Today’s post I have used basmati rice but you could use kolam or even organic rice. For our daily cooking I use organic rice. You could use unpolished rice or ukda chaval which are great for health. I know people avoid rice for reducing weight. But having little rice won’t harm your health. As they are great for digestion and if you could use rice bran oil then why not eat rice? think about it.

This recipe of cooking rice was shared by my friend Janki. I am thankful and grateful to her for this. Best part is you don’t require any fancy equipment or tools for cooking perfect rice. All you need is a big aluminium vessel or heavy sauce pan, water and salt.

6. Now after removing all water place back on gas on low heat. This time cover with a lid and allow to cook for 2-3 mins. Alternatively you could strain the rice over a colander and don’t cook further. However I prefer to cook for a minute covered on the gas.
