Cheese Chilli Toast Recipe, Cheese Chilli Toast Sandwich Recipe

June 4, 2016 by maria

Cheese Chilli Toast Recipe is easy to make and could be make as a quick snack, breakfast or when you are hungry in middle of the night. This is ideal on rainy days with a cup of hot tea besides your balcony. Its simple and easy to make even beginners can make it without being hassled. Toast Sandwiches have been my favorite since childhood and will always be ;)….. The first two dishes which I had tried in my teens were aloo paratha and various kind of sandwiches. So making sandwiches comes naturally to me and love making or eating them.

Its one of my most loved dish and I just eat with great passion. In my college days I used to binge upon lots of Cheese Toast sandwiches from the Road side Sandwich vendor along with few friends who also used to relish his sandwiches . The taste still lingers on my tongue. Its been a while I might visit him again hopefully he is still running his stall there. You get good cheese chilli toast served at Bountys (kalyani nagar) Pune. You also get great sizzlers and beer at Bountys it’s a must if you love sizzlers.

There are various types of sandwiches one can make and are available in the market. You can prepare en number of sandwiches with your favorite veggies and stuffing’s. With this recipe you could also add some grated ginger or minced ginger for the extra kick or spice. At our place we eat spice moderately hence haven’t added them. Me and my sister used to love these sandwiches made by mom and used to come with our own variations. That’s how I made corn cheese chilli toast, mushroom cheese toast.

I have prepared cheese chilli toast in oven. You could bake them in oven or make them on a electric toaster, gas toaster or on a tawa (pan). If you don’t have an electric sandwich maker you can just Toast the Bread on a Pan(Tawa) add the stuffing. Put butter on both sides and eat it. I would prefer any kind of sandwich in the electric toaster or tawa because sandwiches are sandwiches and they taste yummy any which ways right. I prefer the baked version as the bread is baked to perfection, golden brown, crunchy and is less messy affair then making on pan or toasters.

Author: Maria@flavorsofmumbai.com
Recipe type: Snack, Breakfast, Side
RecipeCuisine: Indian
Serves: 2
recipeIngredient (used american measuring cup, 1 cup = 250 ml)
  • 3-4 slices of brown bread or any slice bread
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese, mozarella cheese or cheese slices
  • 1-2 green chilies finely chopped
  • salt as required
  • butter for spreading on the bread (optional)
How to make the recipe?
  1. Firstly grate the cheese and place aside in a bowl. If you are using a cheese slice then skip this step. Simultaneously chop chilies finely and place aside.
  2. Take any bread of your choice spread some butter over the top. Bake or grill at 200º C for 5 mins.
  3. Keep checking once the top is toasted reverse the bread apply some butter and bake for another 2-3 mins.
  4. Now spread the grated cheese evenly covering the bread. You could chop the edges if you wish.
  5. Scatter some green chilies on the top. Add chilies and salt are per your spice preference.
  6. Bake again at 200º C for another 5 -7 mins or until the cheese melts and slightly brown. But don't over-bake else the cheese might get burnt. Slice into triangular or rectangular pieces and serve cheese chilli toast hot with tomato sauce.

Notes
1. Cheese cube should be cold and firm while grating it. If they are kept outside refrigerator for a long time you won't be able to grate it so remove the cheese cube only when you wanna grate them.
2. I didn't add salt because cheese already has salt in it. So be careful while adding salt.
3. If you are making in a pan then toast the bread, apply some butter, spread some cheese, toast until cheese melts and serve.
4. You could also make them on an electric toaster.
